Circuits
This is an overview for the passionate car driver to browse through of the major racing tracks which have made the history of italian and international car racing. It may suggest places worthwhile visiting enroute to major italian destinations or offer the possibility to discover less known but not less charming towns and landscapes. Some of the sites remain operational to date and regularly host modern or historical races as well as automotive events, such as fairs, club meetings and various types of driving courses.
Others simply retain an historical value and their former grounds remain surely curious and fascinating premises to visit for the racing car lover.
Itineraries
The numerous italian historical road races, some well known to most automotive enthusiasts as the Mille Miglia or the sicilian Targa Florio where great drivers such as Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Tazio Nuvolari and many others were bred and gained their glory, are here recommended as driving itineraries. Roads that enhance the pleasure of driving and exhalt those typical characteristics of an Alfa Romeo…the road handling and the engine sound above all. Most now run on secondary roads accross the countryside and through towns of Italy otherwise probably impossible to discover.
Many of the races are regularly organized and can be attended as visitors while others allow direct participation prior to signing up.
Sites & Events
The most famous italian car and motorcycle brands such as Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Vespa, Moto Guzzi and many others have a museum in Italy. These and various privately owned automotive museums, together with fairs and events are suggested as driving destinations or stop-overs enroute to other sightseen attractions in Italy. Venues which delight the automotive fan and amuse the curious travellers driving winding roads into the italian hinterland.
Most museums can be visited year round, while fairs and other dedicated events at their scheduled dates.
